Abstract: | Climate change is increasingly recognized as a ‘threat multiplier’ with serious implication for peace and security. Leading media of the world intend to call current situation as the 'climate crisis'. The inauguration of the Biden administration in the US in January 2021 has triggered a renewed interest in climate change measures on a global scale. Meanwhile, with the rapid spread of renewable energy and other energy sources, the struggle for supremacy over oil and natural gas is changing. There is growing momentum to reassess geopolitical risks. The concept of 'climate security', which is increasingly being discussed mainly in Europe and the US, is beginning to attract attention in Japan. |
